This September, members of the Hawkins family donated their time, effort and hair to two deserving English charities.
Helen Child, Office Manager at Hawkins Reigate, regularly volunteers with Loveworks, a local Reigate-based charity with a mission to improve the lives of its community through food. Loveworks currently operates foodbanks supporting people within Reigate, Merstham, Netherne and Hooley postcodes, as well as a community allotment, and a Munch Club, which helps to tackle holiday hunger. They were founded 10 years ago and have reached 5,560 local people with the help of 345 volunteers during that time. Helen’s son, Ben, recently took part in Run Reigate 2022 as a member of Team Loveworks, which raised over £4,300, to help feed the community and grow fresh vegetables this winter.
September is also Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and Hawkins sponsored Leeds Regional Manager Dr Paul Lemon’s daughter, Phoebe, during her very special haircut for the Little Princess Trust. Phoebe has donated over 50cm of hair, which will be used to make wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy. Thanks to generous donations, and the support of Hawkins, Phoebe raised almost £4000 as part of her contribution to the charity, and her hair should be enough for 2 or 3 wigs. Paul says he is extremely proud of Phoebe, but also overwhelmed by the support from the Hawkins community as well.
In addition to individual and community charities, Hawkins is also proud to support The Anna Freud Centre for Children & Families as our chosen charity for 2022.
