Robert Taylor Joins Hawkins’ Road Traffic Collision Investigation Team

Road Traffic Collisions

Robert Taylor is a Chartered Engineer and has joined Hawkins after working in automotive systems at Millbrook Proving Ground.

Robert graduated from the University of Warwick in 2013 with a First class Masters in Mechanical Engineering. After graduating, Robert returned to Millbrook Proving Ground where he had previously conducted an undergraduate year in industry. His role involved conducting track based whole vehicle test, development, and certification programmes on a wide range of automotive systems and products.

He developed a specialisation in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and was recognised as Millbrook’s SME. Robert has extensive knowledge and experience in ADAS, having completed a variety of programmes for Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Support Systems, and other active safety features. He was instrumental in developing Transport for London’s Bus Safety Standard, where he developed protocols that included AEB, Intelligent Speed Assist, and Blind Spot Warning detection. Robert analysed vehicle data for failure analysis, and investigated signals from CANbus, FlexRay, camera, sensors, and vehicle-to-vehicle data in order to determine the causes of collisions whilst active safety systems were active.

Robert left Millbrook whilst holding the role of Principal Engineer, and is now an Associate based in our Birmingham office.
