Ray graduated in 1995 from Coventry University with an upper second class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, and after a short spell working in Leicester, he joined Cullum Detuners Ltd (CDL) where he gained the Institute of Acoustics Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control from the University of Derby, with a special commendation from the Institute. During his time at CDL, Ray was the focal point for the design aspects for all projects utilising the typhoon gas turbine. This included structure, thermodynamics and acoustics. Furthering his academic studies, Ray obtained his MSc in Applied Acoustics from the University of Derby and became a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
In 2003, Ray joined the Royal Air Force as an Engineer Officer and after 8 years of service he then emigrated to New Zealand and resumed his acoustic career in the Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) environment. During this time, he was responsible for providing acoustic solutions to numerous customers, both in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, and held Chartered Mechanical Engineer status with Engineering New Zealand and was also a member of the Acoustical Society of New Zealand. Nine years later Ray decided to return to the UK, again staying in the field of acoustics.
Ray brings nearly twenty years of experience and has particular expertise in acoustic calculations, measurements, and report writing to meet the varied requirements of the customer.
