Jack is a Chartered Civil Engineer at Hawkins, specialising in geotechnics. He has a first class bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Nottingham Trent University and a master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering from The University of Birmingham. Prior to joining Hawkins, Jack spent seven years at AtkinsRéalis,  where he provided geotechnical design and consultancy services on multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects in the UK.

At AtkinsRéalis, Jack carried out the design of deep and shallow foundations, retaining structures, reinforced earth and slope stabilisation measures. He gained particular expertise in the assessment and remediation of railway earthworks to prevent failure. He was also responsible for producing geotechnical desk studies, ground investigation specifications and interpretive geotechnical reports for projects in a range of ground conditions. During this period, Jack also spent time on site, supervising both construction and ground investigation works for highways, rail and water projects. He supervised the construction of reservoir remediation works, provided geotechnical site support for local authority highways schemes and supervised site works for several large railway ground investigation projects in London.

Following his successful professional review in 2022, Jack led the geotechnical design for two new UK railway stations. This included shallow foundations, bored and driven pile foundations, gravity retaining walls, sheet pile and bored pile retaining walls, and earthworks. Jack was also responsible for assessing the risk posed by historical mine workings at both sites and designing the remediation solution which stabilised the ground ahead of construction.

Most recently, Jack worked on the Sizewell C Nuclear Power Station, enabling works contract as an earthworks design package lead for the main construction area. He led a team of engineers and technicians, delivering the design and 3D modelling of early earthworks and retaining structures to facilitate construction of the new power station.
