This webinar will take place at 9.30am BST

“Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes” – Body Protection for the Motorcycle & Bicycle Rider

In the United Kingdom, motorcyclists and their passengers are required by law to wear a protective helmet at all times while riding.  Although there is no specific legal requirement for other protective gear, it’s essential for safety.  The Highway Code recommends strong boots, gloves, and suitable clothing to help protect riders in case of a collision.

Since joining Hawkins in 2005, Principal Associate, John Camplin has comprehensive experience of road traffic collision reconstruction and associated engineering failures.  He has particular expertise in incidents involving head impact forces, head protection (helmets) and passenger biomechanics.

In this webinar, John provides a review of the expected performance of helmets, boots and clothing during road traffic collisions.  He will also discuss what we can establish about the benefit of protective equipment from post-collision evidence.
