Testing Times – Challenges Associated with Testing Power Plant Systems

Hawkins frequently investigates large losses associated with the catastrophic damage of power plant equipment as a result of the failure of protective and back up systems. Data produced by major insurers and brokers mirrors Hawkins’ experience that the failure of DC back up systems is often the root cause of these losses.

Technically these losses are interesting because they often involve a double failure; a failure or impairment of the main process followed by a failure of the protection or back up system.

Nick will discuss the challenges associated with testing and maintaining the integrity of power plant protective and back-up systems.
