David started his career in 2005, as a professional trainee at MITIE Engineering, London.
Whilst studying building services at Croydon College and later London South Bank University, David worked on installation projects including fast-track office fit-outs, major refurbishments, new builds, and high-end residential. During these projects, David was responsible for a range of building systems containing:

- Power Distribution
- Data
- Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) and mission critical infrastructures
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Life Safety Systems (Fire Alarm, Disable refuge, etc)
- Mechanical Systems
- Security Systems (Intruder Alarms, CCTV, Access Control etc)
In 2012, David moved focus to energy projects. He began investigating demand-side energy reduction, renewable installations, and decarbonisation projects. This included working with BMS optimisation and system optimisations for mechanical and electrical systems.
From 2015, David worked with an information specialist working on major projects and BIM deliverables. Some of the projects delivered include major scientific, medical, and research laboratories.
In 2019 David joined a medical device start up, working to support the installation of proton therapy systems. This included certification, verification, and validation. David was also responsible for working on the delivery of the installations, on a site-by-site basis, assisting customers with design of their facilities and systems to support the treatment system.
David joined Hawkins in 2023 as an Associate in our Reigate office.
