On 2nd November, Ben Adams, a Mechanical Engineer from the Hawkins’ Power & Energy Team and based in our London Office, was a speaker at the London Onshore Energy Conference.
The conference had presentations and workshops occurring throughout the day, on topics such as: photovoltaic power plant projects, wind and upstream energy, the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), green and blue hydrogen production, and many others.
Ben’s presentation, An Introduction to Large Turbo-Generators & Their Failure Mechanisms was part of the morning programme and explained how generators are used to make electricity in most power stations, from wind farms and hydro plants to gas, coal and nuclear power stations. He also discussed the resulting damage, business interruption and substantial costs that can occur as a result of a generator failure.
Ben said, “The conference was an excellent opportunity to catch up with insurers and loss adjusters in the power market after so long. Thanks to all who came along early to see my presentation.”
This talk was also part of our series of webinars delivered by our London office. If you would like to view Ben’s presentation, you can watch an earlier recording of it here.
