We would like to congratulate Dr Eleanor Jay as she celebrates 10 years at Hawkins.

Joining in the summer of 2014, Eleanor quickly established herself as a Materials Expert, working on cases across the whole of the UK. Having completed nearly 600 cases over the last decade, Eleanor has investigated incidents involving escapes of water, contamination, accidental damage, and chemical and mechanical engineering  amongst others.

Looking back on her ten years with Hawkins, Eleanor said “Every day at Hawkins is different, you never know what is going to happen and what to expect; for me, that is very exciting! One of my most memorable cases was being able to go inside Europe’s biggest biomass boiler, I have never seen anything quite like the size of that chimney!”.

Eleanor has become an invaluable addition to the Hawkins team, recently being appointed as Head of Materials. We would like to take this opportunity to thank her for all the hard work since joining and look forward to many more years to come.

Eleanor is a Chartered Engineer, Chartered Scientist and Fellow of the IOM3. She specialises in materials failures (glass, polymers, metals, ceramics, refractory materials), metallurgy, escapes of water, oil and fuels, system failures, and personal injury.

If you would like Eleanor to investigate a case or present your organisation, please get in touch.
