Our Bristol office recently opened its doors to clients when we hosted our Escapes of Water Masterclass.

Dr Giuseppe Scatigno began the day with his presentation ‘Escapes of Water: The Basics’ which outlined his approach to investigating escapes of water. He included an overview of the common types of domestic heating systems in the UK, the relevant installation regulations, and some common installer mistakes.

Giuseppe advised that if the fault is not found promptly, the size of the loss can escalate quickly, as the escape of water continues to cause further damage. When working with multiple parties, our investigators mobilise rapidly when instructed on an escape of water case, to minimise loss and expense to all parties concerned.

Our guests then had the opportunity to get hands-on with a practical exercise to build their own plumbing joints and test them, to determine if they were watertight.

Dr Giuseppe Scatigno is a Materials Science and Nuclear Engineer with a background in electrochemistry and corrosion. He combines his expertise to investigate materials failures ranging from escapes of water, oil and gas in domestic settings, to corrosion in power generation equipment in large industrial plants.

If you would like Giuseppe or a Hawkins expert from another discipline to present to your organisation or host a masterclass, please get in touch.
