Hawkins would like to welcome chartered structural engineer (CEng, MIStructE) Jamie Paterson to our Glasgow office.

Jamie graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a master’s degree in structural engineering with architecture before joining a leading oil and gas services company where he specialised in the design of fixed offshore platforms. In this role, Jamie was responsible for assessing new and existing offshore structures under static, dynamic, accidental, and fatigue conditions. This included several large projects across Europe and South America.

Jamie also brings extensive experience as a structural engineer in the onshore environment where he was responsible for the management and technical design of several projects using conventional and novel building materials. This included multi-story residential, education, theatre, heritage, refurbishment, and industrial buildings. He has also undertaken detailed structural investigations of listed buildings and monuments. Jamie is also skilled in using destructive and non-destructive methods when investigating the integrity of a building’s structure, and the development of remediation strategies.

With his knowledge of modern design methods and low-energy buildings in the context of net zero, Jamie became one of the first Passivhaus-certified structural engineers in the UK.

We are delighted to have Jamie on board.
