We are delighted to welcome, Collision Reconstruction Expert, Siobhán O’Connell to our London team.
Siobhán has over eight years’ experience investigating road traffic collisions and researching improvements in road safety. After graduating with a first-class MEng (Hons) in Medical Engineering, Siobhán joined the UK’s Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) as a graduate researcher within their safety group, conducting studies into the vulnerable road user, bus and heavy goods vehicle sectors.
Using relevant literature, collision databases, and police files, Siobhán calculated casualty reduction benefits associated with the implementation of new passive and active safety measures and contributed to regulation and directive updates and proposals. In 2017, she became a collision investigator, attending live collision scenes, using forensic investigation techniques to identify the root cause of collisions and injuries sustained. This provided Siobhán with experience in occupant and vulnerable road user protection, injury biomechanics, and investigating vehicle crashworthiness.
Siobhán later joined Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary as a Forensic Collision Investigator, leading investigations at live scenes of fatal and life-threatening road traffic collisions, obtaining and evaluating evidence to reconstruct the collisions. She is experienced in both physical and desktop-based reconstructions, CCTV analysis, and collisions involving Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Siobhán has produced numerous reports for use in Court proceedings and has given evidence as an Expert Witness in both Coroner’s and Crown Court.
It is a pleasure to welcome Siobhán on board.
