We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mechanical Engineer, Dr George Jackson, who joins our Manchester office.

George brings a wealth of expertise in mechanical and materials engineering. Having graduated with a first-class honours MEng in Mechanical Engineering in 2013, he furthered his academic journey with a PhD in Materials Engineering in 2018. His doctoral research focused on the high-temperature mechanical properties of aerospace coatings, particularly the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature and high-temperature creep behaviour of new-generation MCrAIY alloys. His research involved advanced characterisation techniques such as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD).

Following his PhD, George expanded his expertise in metallurgy and metallography through post-doctoral research on a new generation of advanced alloys for the nuclear industry.

On completion of his studies, George joined a manufacturer of aerospace coatings as a process specialist in the Thermal Spray department where he was responsible for providing technical expertise and support for production. George led the development of new products, implemented continuous improvements, and conducted process failure investigations.

He then transitioned to a precision engineering firm that specialises in precision metal components for the aerospace, automotive, and medical industries. He oversaw a project to develop new installation tooling, before taking responsibility for the company’s technical manufacturing specifications.

It is a pleasure to welcome George to Hawkins where his extensive experience and technical expertise make him a valuable addition to our engineering team. If you have any questions for George or another Hawkins’ engineer, please contact us.
