Fire & Explosions expert, Dr Richard J Fletcher, recently participated in the Myton Hospices Cycle Challenge for a second time.
The Myton’s Cycle Challenge aimed to raise £37,500 as participants cycle 50km through Warwickshire. Supporting the charity helps Myton continue delivering quality care and support for individuals facing terminal illness and their families, specifically within Coventry and Warwickshire. Richard has raised over £630 so far, surpassing his target of £100.
Richard, a keen advocate for the charity, said “After completing the challenge last year in 2 hours and 22 minutes, getting closer to 2 hours was the aim however, even repeating the same time this year feels like a great achievement. The training has felt harder this time as I have not been able to get out as often as I did last year, but I am still keen to continue supporting the great work that Myton Hospices do”. Richard completed the 50km cycle in a time of 2 hours and 20 minutes, marginally quicker than last year. He said “Although it doesn’t seem much, I am happy that I shaved a couple of minutes off last years’ time. It was near perfect weather, not too hot, no rain and not much wind helped”.
The event has raised over £70,000 so far, and we would like to congratulate Richard for completing this year’s challenge. If you would like to donate to the cause, you can find Richard’s JustGiving page here.
